Triple B Care Projects met Dodi (aka Leo) in October 28th 2014. He was referred from a Manila Street Children’s Foundation, who had contacted Children First Foundation (Melbourne, Australia). By November 7th he had received surgery from ANZ Interplast., and a little more in November 2015. He stayed at the Children’s Recovery Unit – run by our partners in care, Helping Hands Ministry. They brought him to TripleB clinic many times for dressings and scar management. In January 2016 Dodi was able to transfer to a care facility in Manila, nearer for his parents to visit. Dodi is a very brave boy, his appalling injury happened when some drug addicts set him alight ‘for a joke’, when he was just 5 years old.
This was followed by inadequate treatment for burns which we so often see here in the Philippines, resulting in gross contractures and scars. We wish Dodi all the best and sincerely hope that we see him again on his journey to adult hood and that his dreams of becoming an actor are fulfilled! He is Oscar bound for sure!!!
